We generally use 316 Stainless Steel for our engraved steel asset tags and plates. Other grades include 304 and 204. The steel we use is AUSTENITIC, and is therefore non-magnetic. If you have a need for steel tags / plates that are both stainless, and have magnetic properties, you will need to submit a QUOTE REQUEST describing your project, and the grade of steel needed. In general, we do not work with mild steels, or Martensitic steels.
Steel is extremely hard - and therefore challenging to mechanically engrave. In some cases, where we lack internal capacity to mark really hard steels, we use a network of partners who have the ability to work with these materials.
